Hospice is a home care service that provides comfort and support to patients who have incurable illnesses.

Emotional and/or spiritual support is also provided to caregivers, families and others by a team of professional hospice workers and volunteers.

  • to assist patients to live comfortably by relieving pain and distressing symptoms
  • to support the patient's hope by helping them to maintain self-worth, control and dignity
  • to promote a peaceful death
  • to aid the patient and their loved ones to be at peace with end of life issues

philosophy

We affirm life, and the care that we provide neither hastens nor postpones death. Our hospice care emphasizes quality of life rather than length of life. Dying is seen as a normal and natural process.

eligibility

  • hospice care is available for a person with a life expectancy of 6 months or less, whose illness cannot be cured
  • the patient and family desires non-curative medical care and support services
  • in most cases, care is provided in the home by family or other caregivers with the support of our hospice team
  • hospice care is available to patients with ALS, Alzheimer's, AIDS, Cancer, Diabetes, Heart diease, Lung disease and other life-threatening illnesses
